Benito Juárez experienced one of the most important eras of Mexico, considered by many historians as the consolidation of the nation as a Republic. Juárez marked a watershed in the nation's history, being first class protagonist of this era. His biography in the years he held the presidency is almost entirely also the history of Mexico.
Benito Pablo Juárez García (San Pablo Guelatao, Oaxaca, March 21, 1806 - Mexico City, July 18, 1872) was a Mexican lawyer and politician of Zapotec indigenous origin, President of Mexico on several occasions from 18 December 1857 to July 18, 1872. It is known as the "Father of the Americas". The celebrated phrase "Among individuals, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace."
